Cursor is not answering questions anymore since 2.0.

example prompt:
```
first a few questions:
@package.json (21) wouldn’t it be better to use 2.6.4 here, which is the newest version?
@TwilioService.ts (34) is it necessary to EXPLICITLY pass the users jwt token like this? I thought it alredy gets passed automatically when calling an edge function?
what is @types.ts? surely not your own newly created package, because why would you would a deprecated interface in there? @types.ts (40-53)
did you copy this from somewhere???
```

And then cursor just proceeds to make some changes, without giving me any clarifications or answers to my questions.

Before cursor 2.0 I would always receive answers to my questions in addition to it making changes.

Ask mode is intended for questions, and Agent mode is intended for actions.

AI is not brilliant at determining sentiment, so it is better to be explicit in this context. It seems that your questions are being interpreted as rhetorical questions, so the model is treating it as an implicit instruction rather than an explicit question.

I can’t say why things have changed for you, but the nature of AI models is that they will change over time - they are not deterministic, so what was previously interpreted one way will now be interpreted another way.

I used to use Ask mode frequently, but found it annoying that I had to do a couple of clicks every time I switched between Ask and Agent, and often forget to switch back to Agent from Ask, which would result in a detailed response that didn’t make the required changes - it just told me what to do, so I had to rerun the prompt in agent, so it would complete the work. I resolved this issue by creating a very simple Cursor rule named _adviceonly.md_ which contains of only this line:

_Do not update any code - just provide information based on the prompt._

To ask a question, I now type the question into Agent mode followed by /a[Enter][Enter], which is much quicker than switching to Ask mode (and definitely quicker than forgetting to switch back!). I have been using this rule frequently since rules were implemented, and it hasn’t let me down yet.

I have other, more refined rules that provide responses to questions in a specific format, but the advice rule works for me as a general purpose suffix which (so far) always works as intended.

You could set up key-bindings to switch to Ask mode and Agent mode but I prefer using my Cursor rule.
