Cursor Pro Limits, API Cost Analysis, and Subscription Decision - Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m currently evaluating my Cursor usage and need some clarification about Pro account limitations vs API costs. Looking at my usage pattern, I want to make an informed decision about my subscription.

My Current Situation:

  • Currently using Cursor Pro

  • Heavy usage: ~10-15M tokens per day based on my usage history

  • Missed the annual subscription discount and considering alternatives

  • Mainly use it for Flutter/Dart development work

Questions I Need Help With:

1. Cursor Pro Token Limitations

  • Does Cursor Pro have daily or monthly token limits?

  • If yes, what are the specific limits?

  • What happens when you exceed them - throttling, fallback to slower models, or complete cutoff?

2. Cost Analysis Based on My Usage Looking at my usage history (attached screenshot showing ~10M+ tokens daily), I’m trying to calculate:

  • How much would this cost if I exceed Pro limits and pay per additional usage?

  • Is there a break-even point where I should consider alternatives?

  • Are there usage-based tiers I should be aware of?

3. Subscription Decision

  • Cursor Pro vs other AI coding assistants for heavy users - which is more economical?

  • Any upcoming changes to Pro limitations I should be aware of?

  • Alternative platforms worth considering for Flutter/Dart development work?

My Usage Pattern:

  • Primarily code generation, debugging, and refactoring (Flutter/Dart)

  • Long coding sessions with extensive AI assistance

  • Daily usage ranging from 300K to 8M+ tokens

  • Peak usage shows I can hit 2.6M tokens in a single session

Has anyone with similar heavy usage done a cost analysis? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!
