i accidentally closed a “side chat” - how can I bring it back? there doesnt seem to be a side chat history, im in the agent window.

Hey, thanks for the request. Quick heads-up: when you close a Side Chat tab, it gets archived, and Cursor currently doesn’t have any UI to view or reopen a closed Side Chat. This is a known limitation, not data loss. The conversation isn’t deleted, it’s still saved locally, you just can’t access it from the UI yet.
For next time: while the Side Chat is still open, you can pull its content into the parent chat via @ → Past Chats. Open Side Chats show up there with the label “Side Chat”. Once you close the tab, that path won’t work anymore.
I’ve shared this with the team as feedback. Not being able to restore a closed Side Chat is something we should improve. In the agents window, in the chat from which you started the side chat, you press ‘cmd + T’, or simply press the ‘plus’ button, and then you will see a ‘side chats’ option, from which you can reopen the chat you closed before.
