DeepSeek-R1 switched to Perplexity's to cause degradation?

I observe severe degradation as of 2025-02-22 vs 2025-02-21.

Not many days ago, Perplexity released a fine tuned version of DeepSeek-R1, claiming it can answer sensitive topics (ones that are China-related) that the official R1 refuses to answer.

Now, when I chat with R1 in Cursor, it can answer these topics, both in Chinese and in English, meaning it’s the Perplexity fine-tuned version. However, Perplexity cannot prove their seasoning won’t degrad R1.

Cursor, have you switch to Perplexity’s R1? If yes, please refrain from using Perplexity’s R1 and use the official R1!

Edit: All right… Right after me starting this thread, the R1 in my Cursor is coming back to normal (refusing to answer sensitive questions and good quality of answer otherwise), so maybe Cursor team is testing something?
