Please stop auto-injecting `Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>` when the Agent runs `git commit`.

I already have an always-on rule forbidding this, but Cursor still appends it after the fact. I’ve hit this repeatedly (~5 times); it shows up on Gerrit and I have to clean it every time.

Prefer: default off, or a user setting that defaults to off. User rules alone can’t block tooling injection.

Thanks.

I would like to request that the default setting for git Commit Attribution and PR attribution should be off. It’s ridiculous to assume that anyone wants their git history be full of advertisements.

Hey, you’re right that rules won’t disable this. The trailer is added by Cursor at the tooling level, not by the model, so the rule won’t catch it.

There’s a built-in setting for this. In Cursor Settings \> Git & Pull Requests \> turn off Commit Attribution and PR Attribution if needed. If you’re working via CLI, set `attribution.attributeCommitsToAgent` to `false` in `~/.cursor/cli-config.json`.

Can you tell me which surface you’re using, IDE agent, CLI, SDK, or ACP? If you already turned off attribution but the trailer still shows up, that’s a known issue on some non-IDE paths that we’re tracking. Let me know and I’ll link your case to it.

As a temporary Gerrit workaround, the injection happens before hooks run, so a `commit-msg` hook on your side can automatically strip the trailer.
