Do I need to register a separate API key for model selection in Cursor Pro?

Why do I have to register separately for these models even though I’ve upgraded to Pro???

Hey, this is a regional restriction. Anthropic and OpenAI don’t serve some regions, so those models require your own API key.

What should work without an API key:

  • Grok Code
  • Kimi K2
  • Composer 1
  • DeepSeek v3.1
  • DeepSeek R1

If you need Claude or GPT, it’s BYOK only (your own API key), but the provider may still block requests from your region.
