When the update cursor button appears on the bottom left of the IDE it might seem like a good idea to go ahead and update. DO NOT do this you run a high risk of some of you files being wiped out, altered or just plain missing once the update completes. This has happened to me twice. The first time I was a bit confused but thankfully my chat was not entirely wiped out so it was easy to get the missing files back. However this time around the files are present but missing code, another files completely gone and the chat I used to create the features also missing any recent interactions. This is a warning, DO NOT update Cursor until you are happy with what you are working on and have safely committed it to git otherwise you run the risk of having to waste time and money restoring features that the update ruined.
