I’ve been using Cursor for a while now, and I’ve had it help with large code bases in Typescript, Javascript, C#, PHP, C/C++… any python. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say it is fundamentally retarded in Python - like it does some craaaazy bad code….. struggles with basic stuff. Just venting a bit here…
I had experience with Python projects when I used Cursor 0.9 version. For me there is no differences with different languages.
The problems are always the same.
Good codebase → good promt results.
For some reasons some chats are much better that another. Sometimes I have stupid chats in any language that it would be better to write code myself, very rare I have briliant chats with 150% of understanding and the code quality.
For me, this was a fresh project, started from scratch.
Python is a language used by far more non-engineers than other languages. And it shows in the models.
I won’t make that mistake again.
