### Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

### Describe the request

Often I really just want to be able to clone a repository in the agents window. Yes I can open the editor window, or use a terminal, or ask an agent to clone something for me (which feels silly), but what I really want to do is just bring up the command palette and issue some git commands so that I can get a new workspace up and running.
It would actually be great to start a new workspace and have the option to clone 1 or more repos into that workspace. Right now when I start a new workspace I have the option of opening a repository on cloud, or opening an existing directory on local, but not cloning a repo to local.
I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this same pain, but I use cursor at work and in my personal projects and the lack of IDE aware git commands in the agents window just feels clunky to me.

Hey, thanks for the feature request. Good news, you can already clone a repo right from the Agents Window. When you start a new workspace, the picker has three options: Open project, Clone repo, and Connect via SSH. Clone repo is the one you need.

If you don’t see it, or it doesn’t work the way you expect, can you share a couple details?

- What Cursor version are you on? Older builds might not have Clone repo yet, so updating could help.
- What exactly happens when you click Clone repo? A screenshot would really help.

With that info, we can tell if it’s a bug or just the feature being hard to find.

I have been hoping this would become obvious or make it to my version of cursor, but I still find it clunky to get a new project going.

Cursor Version: 3.13.10

In the Agents Window I have a left sidebar open with:
`New Agent`, `Search`, `Automations`, `Customize`

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/cursor1/original/3X/b/d/bdd06d53605f2d547c07132fb45c78d5f2b1f8b3.png)
under workspaces it lists my current workspaces

When selecting the `Open Workspace`icon I see the following:
`Recents`, `Repos`, `Use Existing`, and `New Folder`

Under `Cloud` I see my newly created Repo on github, but I cannot tell it to clone locally.

I cannot find any other button or menu option for creating a new workspace.
Obviously, this is more annoyance than anything, but I would appreciate a way to say, 'hey I want to clone a repo locally and start working on it". If the option already exists, please make it more obvious for people like me who just cannot seem to find it.

Hey, thanks for coming back with the details and screenshots. I can see the picker in 3.13.10 with Recents / Repos showing No Repo, On This PC, Cloud / Use Existing… / New Folder, and the sidebar with New Agent, Search, Automations, Customize.

You’re right. In this build, you can’t properly clone a cloud repo into a local folder directly from the picker. Under Cloud, the repo opens as a cloud workspace, and there isn’t an obvious clone to local option. This is a discoverability issue, not something you’re missing.

Workarounds right now:

- Open an Editor Window the classic IDE view and clone via Clone Repository using Command Palette \> `Git: Clone`, or from the Welcome screen. After cloning, the folder should show up in Recents / On This PC in the Agents Window, and you can work from there.
- Or clone it in the terminal into the folder you want, then attach it via `Use Existing...`.

I reported this internally with your version and screenshots. The new picker clearly needs a more visible clone to local flow. I can’t share an ETA yet. If you clone using one of these methods and the folder still doesn’t show up, reply and I’ll take a look.
