Hey, “An unexpected error occurred” is a generic banner that shows up for any failed request. Most of the time it’s a one-off transient issue, or the request never reached our servers due to a corporate network, VPN, firewall, or SSL inspection. Your account had successful requests just a couple minutes before, so this looks like a one-time hiccup.
Try this in order:
- Open a new chat and retry the request.
- Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics, then send me the result.
- If you’re on a corporate network, VPN, or Zscaler, turn on Disable HTTP/2 in Settings > Network,
cursor.general.disableHttp2, then fully restart Cursor.
If it keeps happening, send the full expanded error text, the new Request ID, your Cursor version, and your OS, and we can dig deeper.
