File pasting and dragging in Cursor 3.1

I really love the new cursor, its my favorite of all the tools. But it sucks when I have to go back to the old cursor for tiny features. The biggest one I had a problem with, is simply copying files into the codebase. Like screenshotting and image, and putting it on public/ is way harder than it should be. Dragging and moving files as well.

Hey, thanks for the feedback.

The Agents Window (Glass) doesn’t have full parity with the editor layout yet for file actions. Copying files via the clipboard and drag-and-drop into directories are still limited. The team knows about it, but there’s no ETA yet.

A couple of workarounds:

  1. Cursor 3.1 added a tiled layout, so you can open the file explorer next to the agent. This should make file work easier without fully switching to the editor layout.
  2. For one-off file actions, you can ask the agent directly, like: “copy this screenshot to public/” and attach the file. The agent can create and move files.
  3. If you need a full file explorer, switch to the editor layout with Cmd/Ctrl+, for that task.

Your feedback helps with prioritization. Let me know if there’s anything else.

I cannot emphasize enough how much i miss being able to drag and drop or even reorganize my repo easily. Doing it within cursor was such a great feature and I’d love to bring it back
