I’m being forced to update my Cursor IDE when I don’t want to.
How do I stop these messages from appearing and make sure that my IDE doesn’t stop working later in the future because updating would be mandatory?
And it’s very annoying.
It keeps appearing in almost every new message.
Hey there.
Cursor has a minimum version policy, which does require that eventually, users update to the latest version.
What if I don’t want to update, not even forcely?
I’ve had SOOOOOO many terrible experiences with your updates that I’m already afraid of them; so I prefer to stay in my old version that I’m already used to.
How do I achieve that? Or updating is mandatory after a certain point?
Things are much more stable these days, so I hope you’ll give upgrading a try! And yes, at some point you will be forced to upgrade when your version falls below the minimum allowed version (currently 2.6).
Mannnn…!
I ended up updating and a what a breeze of fresh air this update was ![]()
All smooth, no problems, no errors, tons of amazing updates that they just work…and even solved a bunch of old issues I had that I’d just gotten used to them because I refused to update due to the painful ones I’d experienced before.
You weren’t kidding when you said that things are more stable these days, and I’m sooooo grateful that I didn’t jump off the ship with Cursor during these times…and the only reason was because there wasn’t another product even similar in features like you guys.
PLEASEEEE!! Don’t sacrifice stability again. I’m building a financial system where stability is literally the most important thing.
