Free open-source way to use ChatGPT/Codex subscription in Cursor

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a free open-source project that lets you use your existing ChatGPT / Codex monthly subscription inside Cursor:

https://github.com/gabrii/Cursor-Azure-GPT-5

The idea is simple: if you already pay for ChatGPT / Codex, this helps you bring that subscription into your Cursor workflow instead of paying for or managing extra model access elsewhere.

It also supports Azure OpenAI, but I mainly wanted to highlight the ChatGPT / Codex subscription use case, because I think many developers here already have one and would love to use it directly while coding in Cursor.

Why it’s useful:

  • use the subscription you already pay for

  • keep working inside Cursor

  • free and open source

  • no Cursor fork or app modification needed

  • Azure support is included too, but it’s not the main point of this post

Hope this helps someone. Curious to hear feedback from anyone who tries it.

You can try the “Ungate” extension for Cursor. It lets you use your Claude and ChatGPT subscriptions in Cursor.
