Generate Commit Message fails with [internal] Error (v3.22.7)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Clicking “Generate Commit Message” in the Source Control panel consistently fails with an internal server error. Confirmed on the latest stable release (no update available).

Failed to generate commit message: [internal] Error

Steps to Reproduce

Stage changes in a git repo.
Open Source Control panel.
Click “Generate Commit Message”.
Error toast appears: Failed to generate commit message: [internal] Error.

Expected Behavior

A commit message should be generated automatically from the staged diff, matching the behavior before this started failing. Instead, the request to generateCommitMessage fails server-side with a [internal] Error on every attempt (confirmed on the latest stable release, 3.22.7 — no client-side fix available).

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Aiman_Khaled_Maqram, thanks for the report and the console output!

This one is on our side. It affects teams where the admin has restricted certain models, and the request that generates commit messages is failing on our servers. There is nothing wrong with your setup or your Cursor version.

I’ve flagged it to the team and we’re working on a fix. I’ll update this thread once it’s resolved. In the meantime, commits themselves work normally, only the generated message is affected.

This should be fixed now!

@Colin Thank you so much! It’s working well now. I really appreciate your quick response and support.
