Generation gets randomly stuck without returning anything (ubuntu 22)

Describe the Bug

Generation in agent/ask mode gets stuck sometimes (rather frequently) without returning any response. Once this happens no new generations will work either, nor will changing models help. Ctrl+K generations will also not work, but tab autocompletions do.

Rebooting Cursor fixes this, but this is really annoying.

After this, I am often (but not always, maybe like 10%) asked to log in again.

This has happened pretty much as long as I’ve used Cursor. I’ve re-installed my system meanwhile and had the same issue on different machines (both Ubuntu 22). I have talked with plenty of Cursor users and only one was suffering from this - and he was using Ubuntu as well.

I have used both Wayland and X11.

Don’t have any extensions installed beyound the basics.

Happens both in python and ts projects.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Hit enter in chat
  2. Venus is rising in Aquarius and a cosmic ray hits
  3. Generation gets stuck without returning any tokens and stays broken until Cursor reboot

Expected Behavior

Does not get stuck

Linux

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

1.x and all previous ones since last august

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

That was before this issue happened again, and won’t get new log messages when i try to regenerate things.

Managed to reproduce the issue once again (this often happens like every 15 minutes and is annoying enough for me to consider switching to windsurf) and this time that log message was not present.

Absolutely nothing else in any of the logs. Just doesn’t work
