I recently signed up for free trial on Google API with $300 credit. First 2-3 days this API key was working flawlessly in Cursor. After that, I’m getting rate limited and my billing isn’t being affect by any of the prompts I send. From what I’ve been reading this is a known issue but Cursor team said that this has been fixed since yesterday.
What version of Cursor do I need to be on to fix this issue?
Do I need to regenerate API key?
What do I need to do exactly to fix this because it’s driving me crazy
If using your own API key, 2.5 Experimental (free) is heavily rate limited by Google. 2.5 Preview is not (not free). This is on Google’s side, you should take a look at their documentation before making a decision on which type you want to use.
You can add the model type you want to use in Cursor Settings → Models
