GitHub Pull Requests sidebar shows repo.git:PR# instead of PR title (treeItemMarkdownLabel fallback)

What you’re hitting is actually a different issue from this thread. This error is a duplicate-handle race that crashes the tree view entirely, whereas this thread is about the label silently falling back to owner_repo.git:PR#.

There’s already an existing thread that covers your exact error - could you post over there instead? Tree views — “Element with id X is already registered”. We’ve let the team know and this is an issue we’re tracking. In the meantime, two workarounds folks there have found:

  • Run Developer: Reload Window (Command Palette) after the error to recover the tree
  • Avoid loading very large PR queries - repeatedly clicking “Load more” on “All Open” is the most common trigger

When you post there, sharing your Cursor version and OS will help the team correlate reports.
