Give Cursor AI access to change chat title

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

We work issues via ticket number in Jira like many developer shops. Our developers find that we often want to refer back to an AI chat that did some work on a particular issue for changes or just reference on how a solution was derived.

We would like Cursor to have the ability to name (or rename) its own chat title to something specific such as the issue number/title that we feed into a prompt when it starts working on it. Its nice that the chat title sort of auto-names itself, but it never includes our issue number. This feature would to always know what issue that chat is in reference to. Right now we do this manually for each chat.

Hi @ScottC, Thanks for the feature request! This has come up a few times in the last few months, so I’ve raised a formal feature request for it. I can’t promise that we’ll implement it but it will be on our radar.

Agreed. I want to say that chatgpt and aistudio dynamically updates the chat name with the flow of the conversation. Always bothered me a bit that Cursor’s is set only by the initial message. Annoying if you have a typical command that you start out with (read yesterday’s entry, read this project and get caught up to speed).
