Grok Bot 0.30.0 – Recover failed / computer inaccessible after Windows update (bots visible)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Hi,
I’m having a persistent issue with Grok Bot on Windows 10.
Details:
Grok Bot version: 0.30.0 (Stable channel)
OS: Windows 10
The problem started this morning after a Windows update.

What happened:
After the Windows update, Grok Bot lost connection to the Agent Computer.
I tried signing out and back in multiple times.
At some point the app showed a white screen with a black loading dot.
After clearing local data and relaunching, my bots reappeared in the sidebar.
However, the computer remains unreachable.

Current status:
My bots are visible again.
I get the message: “Can’t reach Grok Bot’s Computer. Your Bots, files and logins are safe. If it doesn’t reconnect on its own, recover Grok Bot’s computer to keep the data.”
When I click Recover, it fails with:
“Recovery failed. The recovery couldn’t finish; Grok Bot’s computer may still be inaccessible. Your Bots, files and logins are safe.”
“Update Agent Computer” button is grayed out.
Checking for app updates also fails with a connection error (“Unable to check for updates. Check your connection and try again.”).

What I already tried:
Fully quitting the app + killing all processes
Signing out / signing back in several times
Changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 / 8.8.8.8 + flushing DNS
Testing with mobile hotspot
Attempting Recover (failed)
Clearing local AppData folder

My bots, files and logins appear to be safe, but I cannot reconnect to the shared computer.
Could you please check the status of my Agent Computer on your side and perform a manual recovery if needed?

Thank you!

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Update:
Both Recover and Reset have now failed with the same error: “Recovery/Reset failed. The computer may be in a partial state.”
My bots are still visible, but the Agent Computer remains completely inaccessible.
This started after a Windows update on September 11.
Could someone from the team please check and manually recover my computer?
Thank you.

Hi @OliG

Sorry to hear about this! Please restart Grok Bot and let us know if it’s fixed now.

Hi @Colin, I tried but the issue remains. Anything else I can do?

Hi @OliG, thanks for trying that.

Your Grok Bot computer is healthy on our side, so the next step is to find out what is blocking the app on your PC. The current Grok Bot version has a built-in connection checker that will tell us exactly that.

  1. Fully quit Grok Bot
  2. Open Cursor · Download Grok Bot and download the Windows installer.
  3. Run the installer. It replaces your current version; your Bots, files and logins are kept.
  4. Open Grok Bot. If a screen says “Grok Bot is having trouble connecting”, click “Open Network Debugger” and skip to step 6.
  5. Otherwise click your account name at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose Settings (or press Ctrl+,). In the General tab, scroll down to the System section and click “Network Debugger”.
  6. Wait for the checks to finish, then click “Details” so every line is expanded.
  7. Take a screenshot of the whole list and post it here (or copy the lines that are red or orange). The lines that matter most start with “Api tls”, “Api unary”, “Computer tls” and “Updates feed”.

One more thing that would help: if you have an antivirus or security suite installed (Kaspersky, Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, Norton, ESET, McAfee…), please tell us which one!

Hi @Colin, please find attached the required screenshots. Regarding the antivirus, I am using Kaspersky.

Many Thanks.

Hi @Colin , the antivirus was indeed the issue. I’ve set up some trusted websites and now it’s all good. Thanks for your help, we can close the ticket.
