Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Grok Bot
Describe the Bug
Local execution fails to initialize in Grok Bot 0.68.1 on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS due to an incompatibility between the bundled native Node.js module and the system’s C++ runtime library.
The module tree_sitter_runtime_binding.node requires GLIBCXX_3.4.31 and CXXABI_1.3.15, which are unavailable in the system’s installed libstdc++6 version. As a result, the native module fails to load with ERR_DLOPEN_FAILED, preventing local execution from working.
Steps to Reproduce
1- Install Grok Bot 0.68.1 on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS using the official DEB package repository.
2- Launch Grok Bot.
3- Attempt to use the local execution functionality.
4- Observe the application logs or terminal output.
5- The following error appears:
6- GLIBCXX_3.4.31 not found
7- CXXABI_1.3.15 not found
8- Error: ERR_DLOPEN_FAILED
9- The error originates from:
10- /opt/Grok Bot/resources/app.asar.unpacked/dist/deps/tree-sitter/build/Release/tree_sitter_runtime_binding.node
Operating System
Linux
Version Information
Grok Bot should successfully load the native Tree-sitter module and initialize local execution on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS without requiring users to manually upgrade system runtime libraries or install experimental GCC packages.
Version Information
Application: Grok Bot
Application version: 0.68.1
Operating system: Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS
Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
Installation method: DEB package via APT
Package repository: https://downloads.cursor.com/aptrepo
Installed libstdc++6: 12.3.0-1ubuntu1~22.04.3
Available system symbol: GLIBCXX_3.4.30
Required symbols: GLIBCXX_3.4.31, CXXABI_1.3.15
Node.js runtime reported in error: v24.15.0
Affected dependency: tree_sitter_runtime_binding.node
Error code: ERR_DLOPEN_FAILED
Additional Information
Installing gnome-keyring and libsecret-1-0, then fully restarting the application, did not resolve the issue. The installed application version is 0.68.1, and the APT repository reports the same version as the latest available candidate.
The issue appears to be a runtime compatibility problem between the bundled native module and the C++ standard library available on Ubuntu 22.04-based systems.
