Grok Bot: Bot failed to respond

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Every one of my Grok Bots fails with “Bot failed to respond,” including a simple health check that uses no tools, connectors, search, memory, or files.

Details:

  • Grok Bot for macOS, version 0.44.0, Stable track
  • App is fully up to date
  • Fully quitting with Cmd+Q and reopening did not resolve it
  • Bot roster and conversation history remain visible

I tried “Update Grok’s Computer” but not Reset because the workspace contains important recent files and I want to avoid losing changes. After selecting that, I seem to have “Backup not ready” as a new status that’s been stuck that way for a while.

I posted the issue on similar topic another user shared but haven’t had a response, figured it might be best to create a new topic.

Excited to get the ball rolling with my Grok Bots, hope to resolve this issue soon especially since it happened whilst I was still setting things up and only a few days after subscribing.

Steps to Reproduce

This is the first bug and I haven’t been able to do anything else after.

It happened after I gave it a long instruction with a ZIP file.

Additional Information

I haven’t downloaded nor tried using Cursor. So the choices below “Does this stop you from using Cursor” is not relevant to me. I picked “Yes - Cursor is unusable” since I am required to pick an option.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hi @Philippe_Wong , thanks for the detailed report.

I checked your account, and the affected Grok Bot computer has now been rebuilt from its saved data. It is online, and the stored data is present. This was not caused by your Mac, the app update, or the ZIP file.

Please reopen Grok Bot and try sending a short message. You do not need to use Reset or Update. If it still fails, let me know here and I’ll check again.
