Since updating Grok Bot about a week ago (around September 20, 2026), none of my bots can be loaded. The app shows “Can’t reach your computer. Your Bots are safe, they just can’t be loaded right now.” Retry does nothing. Recover computer fails. Reset fails with “The reset couldn’t finish. Grok Bot’s computer may be in a partial state.” In-app Send Feedback also fails with “We couldn’t deliver this report.”
Steps to Reproduce
Open Grok Bot.
Sidebar shows “Can’t reach your computer.”
Click Retry: no change.
Click Recover computer: fails.
Run Reset: fails, partial state warning.
Expected Behavior
Agent computer reachable, bots load, files and logins preserved.
Built-in Grok Bot agent computer (not a model issue)
For AI issues: add Request ID with privacy disabled
No request ID available. The app cannot reach the agent computer, and in-app Send Feedback also fails to deliver.
Additional Information
Started after updating the app about a week ago. Retry, Recover computer and Reset all fail; I have stopped running Reset to avoid worsening the partial state. Please rebuild my agent computer from the backend and confirm my files, bots and logins are preserved. Location: Dubai, UAE. I only use the Grok Bot desktop app, not the Cursor IDE.
I tried the sign out and sign-in method described in similar topics. The same problem persists and now even my name doesn’t show any more at the bottom left corner, it’s now showing “?”
Your bots, files and logins are safe on your computer, and it’s running fine on our side, so please don’t run Reset again. The issue is that since the update, the app on this PC can’t connect out to our servers (that’s why Retry, Recover, Reset and Send Feedback all fail, and why signing out left a “?”). This is almost always security software intercepting the connection.
In a browser, open https://api2.cursor.sh/, click the padlock, and check “Issued by”. It should say Amazon. If it names your antivirus (Kaspersky, ESET, Avast, Bitdefender, Norton), that’s the cause.
In that antivirus, add Grok Bot as a trusted app with HTTPS / “encrypted connection” scanning turned off for it (just pausing protection often isn’t enough). If you use a VPN or proxy, pause it.
Fully quit Grok Bot from the tray, reopen, and give it a couple of minutes. (Still stuck? Try once on a phone hotspot with VPN/proxy off.)
If none of that helps, reinstall the latest from https://x.ai/bot. Your bots and files live on the computer, so it won’t touch them.
Then let me know what the padlock showed and which antivirus/VPN you use. You shouldn’t be hitting this and it’s not something you misconfigured; it’s an issue we’re tracking.
Hi Mohit, that was it. The certificate showed “Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Root Certificate” instead of Amazon. Adding Grok Bot as a trusted application in Kaspersky Plus with traffic scanning disabled fixed it. Thanks for the help.
