Grok Bot: Cloudflare plugin shows "Connected" while one of its connectors (bindings) still needs auth; iOS and Mac disagree

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

The marketplace Cloudflare plugin (plugin 407: 4 connectors · 9 skills) is only partly authenticated. Three of its four connectors are connected and their tools work. The fourth, cloudflare-bindings, still needs auth. None of the Grok Bot surfaces say that. The account and plugin show Connected, and no surface names bindings as the connector that failed.

What the agent status shows (GetMcpServerStatus, 2026-09-25 5:26 PM ET):

Connector Status Tools
user-Cloudflare-docs connected 2
user-Cloudflare-builds connected 6
user-Cloudflare-observability connected 8
user-Cloudflare-bindings needsAuth (detail: authentication_required) 0

Read-only workers_list calls on builds and on observability both succeeded (1 Worker each), so the Cloudflare sign-in is valid for those connectors. Only bindings is unauthenticated. bindings isn’t exposed to the agent at all, so none of its tools are available.

What each surface shows for that same account:

Surface What it shows
iOS Plugins list (searched “cloud”, 17 installed), 5:25 PM ET Cloudflare row has a blue Authorize button
iOS Cloudflare detail sheet “Cloudflare didn’t finish connecting” + Retry, while Accounts → default says Connected (green)
Mac desktop Cloudflare plugin page (same 1.12.0 build) default Connected, Tools 2 of 2 enabled, Apps 4 (cloudflare-docs, cloudflare-bindings, cloudflare-builds, cloudflare-observability, each listed as Connector), no warning
  • Mac shows no warning and doesn’t show which connector failed. Its “2 of 2 enabled” tool count matches the docs connector alone (2 tools). It looks like it doesn’t count builds (6), observability (8), or bindings (0).
  • iOS shows three different states on its own surfaces: Authorize, Connected, and “didn’t finish connecting”. None of them names bindings.
  • So the same account looks healthy on Mac and inconsistent on iOS. The one real problem (bindings needs auth) isn’t named on either platform.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install the marketplace Cloudflare plugin in Grok Bot and connect the Cloudflare account (account row “default”). In our case this left cloudflare-bindings in needsAuth while the other three connectors connected.
  2. On Grok Bot iOS, open Plugins and search “cloud”: the Cloudflare row shows a blue Authorize button.
  3. Tap Cloudflare: the sheet shows “Cloudflare didn’t finish connecting” + Retry, while Accounts → default shows Connected.
  4. On Grok Bot desktop (Mac), open the same Cloudflare plugin page: default Connected, Tools 2 of 2 enabled, Apps 4, no warning.
  5. Check agent MCP status: docs, builds, and observability are connected, but bindings is needsAuth / authentication_required with 0 tools.

Expected Behavior

  • The plugin page shows status for each connector (for example, “cloudflare-bindings: needs auth”), not a single account-level “Connected” that hides a failed connector.
  • A connector that needs auth shows up the same way on every surface: the iOS list, the iOS sheet, and the Mac plugin page.
  • Retry / Authorize re-authenticates just the connector that needs it (bindings) and says so.
  • The tool count on Mac includes every connected connector’s tools, not only the docs connector.

Re-checked at 5:47 PM ET: cloudflare-bindings still needsAuth / authentication_required, 0 tools.

Plugin vs MCP: this is the marketplace Cloudflare plugin (407), not a hand-added MCP. Its 4 remote HTTP connectors are docs.mcp.cloudflare.com, bindings.mcp.cloudflare.com, builds.mcp.cloudflare.com, and observability.mcp.cloudflare.com.

Screenshots notes

  1. iOS Plugins list, searched “cloud” (17 installed), 5:25 PM ET: Cloudflare row shows Authorize.
  2. iOS Cloudflare plugin sheet: “Cloudflare didn’t finish connecting” + Retry, with Accounts → default Connected. Cropped only to remove unrelated chat text behind the sheet.
  3. Mac desktop Cloudflare plugin page: default Connected, Tools 2 of 2 enabled, Apps 4, no warning.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @jsolly, thanks for the report and the screenshots!

Right now the plugin page shows one account row and one tool count for the whole plugin, and both reflect only its first connector (the docs one, which needs no sign-in). That’s why Mac says Connected with 2 of 2 tools while bindings still needs auth. This is a known issue we’re tracking, and I’ve added your report to it.

On iPhone, each Authorize / Retry tap signs in one connector at a time. Your earlier taps signed in observability and builds, so bindings is the only one left. To finish it:

  1. On iPhone, open Plugins and tap Cloudflare.
  2. Tap Retry.
  3. Complete the Cloudflare sign-in in the browser that opens and approve access.
  4. When you return to the app, check whether the “didn’t finish connecting” line is gone.

Could you reply with whether that clears it, and whether bindings shows up for your Bot afterwards?

Thanks Colin, that worked. Retry on iPhone signed in the bindings connector, the ‘didn’t finish connecting’ line is gone, and bindings now shows up for the Bot as connected with 23 tools. Since the plugin page showing only the first connector’s status is already on your tracker, this thread can be closed from our side.
