Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Grok Bot
Describe the Bug
Every link I put in an email through the Gmail connector is saved and sent as a Google redirect instead of the real address. For example, Support – Pet Tutor by Smart Animal Training Systems becomes Redirect Notice. The rewritten link appears both as the visible text and as the actual link target, so customers receive the redirect, can hit Google’s “you’re leaving” warning, and save the wrong link. Links that contain placeholders like come out broken. Emails I write myself in Gmail on the same account are not affected. We use this mailbox for customer support, so every Welcome letter and support reply with a link goes out this way.
example:
Link: https://cursor.com
Link: Redirect Notice
Steps to Reproduce
On Sep 29, 2026, I had my Grok Bot create five test drafts to myself, then read each one back with get_draft in RAW format:
Plain-text body with a full https:// URL: wrapped.
htmlBody with : the href was wrapped.
htmlBody link with different visible text, plus a plain-text alternative: both parts wrapped.
A bare domain with no https://: Gmail turned it into a link and wrapped it (as http://).
htmlBody with an HTML-entity-encoded href: still wrapped. Sending through send_message also wraps links. A message sent on Sep 28 arrived with both of its links rewritten and broken.
Expected Behavior
Links are stored and sent exactly as written, the same as when composing in Gmail.
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Version Information
Gok Bot 0.62.0
For AI issues: which model did you use?
Not model-related. The rewriting happens in the connector.
Additional Information
Several public GitHub reports describe the same behavior with other AI assistants’ Gmail connectors, starting around June 5, 2026 and still open, for example anthropics/claude-code#66010 and #94247. A commenter there reported that a community Gmail tool that calls the Gmail API directly produced clean links.
