My Grok Bot’s computer crashed, so I attempted to wipe/reset it via Settings → Updates → “Reset Grok Bot’s Computer”. The reset dialog (“Resetting Grok Bot’s Computer”) has now been stuck at the “Cleaning up” step at 67% for an entire day. The earlier steps (Getting ready, Wiping your data, Creating Grok Bot’s computer, Starting Grok Bot’s computer) all completed, but it never advances to “Reconnecting”. The Updates page behind the dialog shows a “Resetting” state, and the bot is unusable in the meantime.
Steps to Reproduce
Have a Grok Bot whose computer has crashed / stopped responding.
Open Grok Bot’s Settings → Updates.
Click “Reset Grok Bot’s Computer” and confirm the wipe.
Watch the reset progress dialog: it reaches “Cleaning up” at 67% and never progresses further (waited ~24 hours; also tried “Continue in Background” — no change
Expected Behavior
The reset should finish “Cleaning up”, proceed to “Reconnecting”, and complete within a few minutes, leaving me with a working Grok Bot computer — or fail with an actionable error instead of hanging indefinitely.

N/A — this is a Grok Bot computer reset issue, not a model request issue.
Additional Information
The reset was attempted as recovery after the bot’s computer crashed (bot stopped responding).
This looks related to the stuck-computer reports from other users where support recommended Settings → Updates → Reset — but in my case the reset itself is what hangs.
The known workaround for the hidden reset confirmation window (Reset → TAB → ENTER) does not apply here: the reset did start and progresses to 67% before hanging.
Happy to provide my account email or bot/agent details privately if that helps you recreate the computer on the backend.
Hey @Matt_Brewer,
Good news: with this issue the reset almost always finishes on our end - your computer is rebuilt and your data is preserved. It’s just the progress window that misses the “done” signal and parks at “Cleaning up” instead of moving to “Reconnecting,” so nothing on your side is lost.
To get unstuck: fully quit Grok Bot (not just close the window) and reopen it. If it comes back still unable to connect, use the Recover option that keeps your data - don’t run another full Reset, since that just triggers more rebuilds.
This isn’t intended behavior and it’s something we’re tracking. Older builds can hang like this instead of failing cleanly, so updating when a newer build is available for your platform helps too. If it’s still stuck after a quit + relaunch and Recover, reply here and I’ll dig back in.
Well, the first time I ran the reset, it ran for probably 5 hours. After that I attempted it a few times again. Now its run all night and stuck still trying to connect. Is that expected?
I don’t know if this will be helpful or not, but after being contacted by Cursor support they confirmed my bot was okay on their side and I was able to resolve the problem by updating the thick client on my Ubuntu and Omarchy machines and that fixed it. Upgrading to 0.24.0 is what did the trick for me.
Same setup: Omarchy, Grok Bot 0.18.0-1, Agent Computer fine on iPhone, Linux stuck after Reset/Recover (Cleaning up / Reconnecting). In-app Check for Updates still returns nothing on Linux.
A pacman -Sy then pacman -S grok-bot pulled omarchy/grok-bot 0.24.0-1 from the stable Omarchy repo (the local sync was still showing 0.18.0). After a full quit of sand / grok-bot and relaunch, it connected.
For anyone else on Arch/Omarchy: you do not need AUR or an AppImage for 0.24.0. Sync the Omarchy repo and upgrade grok-bot. Do not run another Reset.
Grok Bot 0.30.0, Stable, already on latest. Computer never finishes starting. Reset fails with: “The reset couldn’t finish. Grok Bot’s computer may be in a partial state — retry to run the reset again.” Reset progress: Getting ready, Wiping your data, Creating Grok Bot’s computer all complete, then it hangs on Starting Grok Bot’s computer at 50% (Cleaning up and Reconnecting never start). Retrying Reset just repeats this. Please rebuild / reprovision the Agent Computer on this account.
mobile also fails after login, stuck on the plan page. For context, this is a new setup.
Thanks for confirming your issue was fixed @Kevin_Tee
