Grok Bot: Mac chat works, local computer reported offline

Describe the Bug

Chat from the Mac app works, but the desktop-app connection to the local computer is dead.

I’m already in the Grok Bot desktop app on a Mac. Chat is fine. The agent still cannot read local files or run local commands. Every attempt returns: “Your local machine isn’t connected right now (the Grok Bot desktop app must be open and online to run commands on it).”

The chat session and the local disk/shell connection have split. I’m already in the desktop app on the Mac, but the local machine is still reported as offline. The computer connection is unreliable.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Be in the Grok Bot desktop app on a Mac, with chat working.
  2. Ask the agent to read a local file or run a local command.
  3. Every attempt returns: “Your local machine isn’t connected right now (the Grok Bot desktop app must be open and online to run commands on it).”

Hey @evgbtrk, thanks for the detailed report!

This is a known issue we’re tracking where the connection to your local machine can drop and stay down even though chat keeps working, and I’ve added your report to it. Fully quitting and reopening the Grok Bot desktop app reconnects your Mac right away. A fix for this also shipped in the latest desktop release (0.23), so after relaunching, please make sure the app is up to date.
