Grok Bot (product dropdown: – Other – / Somewhere else: Grok Bot; tag grok-bot)

### Describe the request

**Ask:** Let Grok Bot agents print PDFs/docs **directly** to a household printer (IPP / AirPrint / CUPS-style connector or equivalent), without requiring a registered Mac bridge.

**Today’s workaround:**

1. Generate PDF on the agent box
2. CopyFromBox to a registered Mac (Johns-MacBook-Air.local)
3. Shell on Mac: `lp -d Canon_LBP247 <file>`

**Pain:** The Mac must be on, connected, and Local Execution approved. The agent box is not on the home LAN, so it cannot see the Canon. There is no printer plugin/connector in the catalog today.

**Hardware / env:**

- Printer: Canon LBP247 (CUPS/queue name Canon\_LBP247), system default; Kind: Canon LBP247-AirPrint; Driver version: 4.0; Sharing off
- Bridge today: MacBook Air (Johns-MacBook-Air.local)
- macOS: 27 Golden Gate 27.0
- Grok Bot desktop: **0.57.1** · built 2026-09-18T22:09:42.898Z · release track stable · OS darwin

**Suggested directions (not prescriptions):**

- First-class printer connector (IPP / AirPrint / CUPS queue registration)
- Or email-to-print / vendor cloud print when the model supports it
- Or documented support for an always-on LAN machine as a print bridge

**Why:** Printing is a common household agent task (labels, recipes, docs). Forcing a Mac `lp` hop is fragile and blocks when the laptop is asleep or away.

Hi @jsolly Thanks for the forum post!

What you’re doing today is the current way to print from Grok Bot. The agent works on a computer in the cloud, so it can’t see printers on your home network. It has to send the file to one of your own computers, and that computer does the printing.

Two things that could make this less fragile:

1. It doesn’t have to be your laptop. Any computer signed in to the Grok Bot desktop app can do the printing step, as long as the printer is set up on it. An always-on desktop would avoid the problem of the laptop being asleep or away.

2. If the approval prompts are part of the friction, you can change that for each computer in the Grok Bot desktop app under Settings \> Computer. Set “Execution on this computer” to “Always allow.” Auto-review still checks each action before it runs.
