Grok Bot: per-agent reasoning effort control (low / mid / full)

Feature request for product/service

– Other –

Describe the request

Please add a per-agent “reasoning effort” control in Bot / chat settings — for example low / mid / full, or a way to dial down (or skip) deep reasoning on agents that do not need it.

Why

In a multi-agent setup, not every seat should run the full reasoning stack. Some roles are fast replies, mid-level conversation, or light coordination. Others need depth. Today it feels like everyone gets the heavy path by default, which slows group / table chats and burns weekly usage on seats that only needed a quick turn.

Voice already feels like a stripped-down, faster path — so the capability is clearly there. Exposing the same kind of knob for text / multi-agent chat would make multi-bot conversations snappier and more natural, and stretch the weekly allowance further.

Concrete ask

  • Per-agent reasoning effort (or equivalent) in settings
  • Optional defaults by bot role / template
  • Keep full effort available where it matters

Related: team posts about smarter routing for low-effort batch work and harness efficiency are heading in the right direction; a user-visible per-agent control would let power users steer that deliberately.

Happy to give more detail on multi-agent table workflows if useful. Thanks for building this.

Operating System (if it applies)

Windows 10/11

Hi @geminga Thanks for the forum post. Currently, there isn’t a per-agent reasoning effort control in Bot or chat settings today. Grok Bot determines how much reasoning a turn gets, and you can’t set that per bot, by role, or by template yet.

The team is aware of the ask, and we’ll let you know if this changes!
