Grok Bot Shared 1Password autofill says Filled but password stays empty (Instagram)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

I’ve got 1Password connected and logins in the “Shared with Grok Bot” vault. Connect finds the Instagram item fine. When Grok Bot autofills on its own computer/browser, the fill card shows Filled (even reported fill+submit once), but only the username lands. Password field stays empty, Log In stays disabled.

Same false-success thing showsup on every site. The vault password itself is fine — works when I sign in manually / on my Mac.

Basically bots can’t finish logins without me babysitting the Mac, which kind of kills the point of Shared with Grok Bot.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Connect 1Password to Grok Bot and put Instagram (and Letterboxd) login in Shared with Grok Bot vault.
  2. On Grok Bot’s computer, open https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/
  3. Trigger Shared 1Password Connect autofill for that page.
  4. Watch the fill card say Filled.
  5. Check the form: username is filled, password is still empty, Log In stays disabled. Instagram may show incorrect login. Same pattern on Letterboxd.

Expected Behavior

Connect should fill BOTH username and password (or clearly fail). A Filled success should mean the password field actually has a value so the bot can sign in without me on the Mac.

n/a — this is Grok Bot 1Password Connect autofill, not a chat model bug

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the detailed report and the screenshot. I can see two Filled cards in the bot chat, followed by diagnostics.

What you’re describing is a known issue we’re tracking. On some login pages, including Instagram and Letterboxd, the page won’t accept the password that 1Password auto-fills. After that, Grok Bot clears the password field for security. The card still shows Filled even though the login didn’t actually go through. That’s why you see the username filled but the password field empty. This isn’t something in your setup. The password in your vault is fine, as you noticed. I can’t share a timeline yet, but I’ll reply in the thread when there’s an update.

For now, login should work using either of these options:

  1. Ask the bot to use the secure in-chat login form for Instagram instead of 1Password. You enter the password directly in the chat form, and the bot can’t see it.
  2. Or take over the bot’s computer on the Instagram login page and log in yourself once. Enter the verification code there too if Instagram asks for it. After that, the bot’s browser should stay logged in.

Let me know if either option doesn’t work.
