Groups list not showing on web due to `serialize binary: invalid int 32: string` error

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Somewhere else…

Describe the Bug

When I navigate to the /members?subtab=groups page in the web dashboard I get the error serialize binary: invalid int 32: string and the group list comes back empty. Maybe is related or not but one of my groups recently got approved for Anthropic’s Cyber Verification Program (CVP).

Steps to Reproduce

Navigate to the /members?subtab=groups page on web.

Expected Behavior

Page should show the groups I have in my account.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

I just checked the network tab and the call to https://cursor.com/api/dashboard/get-team-groups is returning the error {"error":{"message":"serialize binary: invalid int 32: string","details":}}

Hey @NeoLuca, thanks for the report, and good catch on the CVP connection. That’s exactly what triggers it.

When a group owned by your team has a Cyber Verification Program status, the Groups list fails to load and shows that error. Your groups are all still there, and the CVP approval itself is unaffected.

This is a known issue we’re already tracking, and I’ve added your report to it.

That being said, yur groups can still be managed through the Admin API.

The Team directory groups endpoints (/teams/directory-groups) let a team admin list groups, create, rename, or delete them, set spend limits, and add or remove members. They should work even while the tab shows that error. The docs are here: Admin API | Cursor Docs (see “Team directory groups”).

A team admin needs to create an Admin API key first, from cursor.com/dashboard → API Keys. For example, this lists your groups:

curl "https://api.cursor.com/teams/directory-groups" -u YOUR_API_KEY:

Two things it can’t do yet: change a group’s visibility or its Grok Bot access. And if a group is synced from your identity provider, its members still need to be managed there.

Thanks Colin, that’s helpful.

When are you expecting this to be fixed?

Two questions so we can use the approval correctly while the dashboard is down:

  1. Does CVP turn on automatically for the group once the application is approved, or do we still need to enable it? If it isn’t automatic, can that setting be changed through the Admin API before we use a CVP model?

  2. Does the Cursor IDE show an indicator or a way to switch between the CVP version of a model and the standard one? We need to choose per task. For cyber-defense work, CVP and its data retention are fine. For normal business work, we need the standard model so Zero Data Retention still follows our company policy. If there is no switch, I want to confirm whether choosing an eligible model always uses CVP from now on.

Thanks!

Hey @NeoLuca,

A fix for the Groups tab error (the serialize binary: invalid int 32: string message with the empty list) has been made on our side and will be rolled out soon if it hasn’t been already. It’s a server-side change, so there’s nothing to update on your end.

Could you reload the Members page Groups tab in a little while and let me know if the list still comes back empty?

On your two CVP questions, I’d suggest following up with [email protected], who can speak more about the CVP program and how it works on your Enterprise plan.
