Hate this new auto sub-agents feature

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

since 2.5 sub-agents were introduced, but impossible to choose what model… this made corruption in a very large project… we should be able to choose more easily what model it uses

Operating System (if it applies)

Windows 10/11

Anyone had success rolling back to 2.4?

edit: I just rolled back and it’s all good for me, love 2.4!

I also would like to have a feature to turn-off auto sub-agents. For legacy plan users I believe every subagent is billed as a separate request. I did a simple task with Opus and seemingly was billed 6 requests (1 for Opus, 5 for Composer-1). I never use Composer, so that’s the only explanation where this is coming from.

I agree there should be a switch for the builtin subagents, I personally never see any other than the Explorer being used, but sometimes I do not want it to be used and just causes headache.

@liquefy This may have to do also with which model you use as the main agent.

I noticed the same. I did a small opus request and got 8 requests used from 1.

For anyone else on legacy plan having this issue - a temporary fix I found to work well is to add a rule “Never use subagents. Refrain from using subagents altogether!”.

you have to put this in what file ? where in .cursor/ ? or other directory or sub-directory ?
