“Why does Cursor now take more than ten minutes to respond to a question, and often fails? If it stays like this, I’m planning to cancel my subscription.”
Hi there!
First, the reassuring part: many of your requests are reaching us and completing fine, so this isn’t your subscription or account. The “connection failed” you’re seeing is the network path between Cursor and our servers stalling on some requests (common on proxy/restricted networks). A recent change to how Cursor connects on certain networks contributed to this - we’ve identified it and a fix is on the way in an upcoming release.
In the meantime, these usually get things working again:
- Fully quit Cursor (not just Reload Window) and reopen it. We adjusted this on our side recently, and on team plans a clean restart is often enough.
- Cursor Settings → Network → set HTTP Compatibility Mode to HTTP/1.1, then restart Cursor.
- Make sure you’re on the latest version (Cursor → About Cursor).

If it’s still failing after that, reply with your OS and a request ID (three-dot menu on the message → Copy Request ID) and we’ll trace it.
