A few days ago, I updated Cursor and noticed in AI chat, I can no longer highlight text and press backspace to delete. Now the only way I can delete text in AI chat is one word at a time with CTRL + Backspace
Strange enough, Ctrl+A then Backspace or Delete works.
But if you try to type > then make a selection > delete or backspace > this doesn’t work for me.
Steps to Reproduce
To reproduce, start typing text in a new chat, highlight text and press backspace and text is not deleted. Cursor will delete one character.
Expected Behavior
Highlighted text should delete on backspace or delete
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
Pay attention to your bug posts, this has been an issue for months - my topic was automatically closed and contains a video of the bug happening:
I use cursor on a remotely hosted (it’s a physical machine in my office) Fedora install, and this shift+home bug has been present for forever.
There is also a bug (that has also been present for forever) where when you first start Cursor you can’t type anything in the chat window until you create a new window and then swap back to the old one.
These bugs exist in both 1.0 and 2.0 so please don’t just say “try the new version” - 2.0 is actually worse because it refuses to respect the re-size of the chat window and constantly changes it with each new line printed.
Honestly the UI for this program is a comedy of errors and I would be laughing had I not spent over $1,000 on using it so far.
