How can I make sure cursor ai chat agent can read my environment variables?

I’m finding that often the agent mode or the chat mode is not understanding that I have certain environment variables set up, and I have to copy and paste certain formats into the chat so that the response is improved.

What is the best way to make sure these are accounted for?

create a batch or shell script which outputs them and add it to the rules.
