Hi. Sometimes after a few hours of working on Cursor, AI responses start to either slow down drastically or simply stall / get stuck infinitely. There is no indication of error other than “Taking longer than expected”. I think it would help if I could see what kind of issue is going on (be it network issue, back end issue, or rate limit issue), and if there is a some kind of 5-hour usage limit, whether I’m hitting it.
Hi,
This isn’t rate limiting, but a general either client or network-related issue.
Can you please do the following: Update and Restart Cursor
Start new chats rather than letting them continue on for hours. Based on the symptoms you’re describing it sounds like you may be continuing on very long convos as it sounds like the symptoms get worse over a few hours. Is your entire computer sluggish or is it just Cursor? If it’s the whole computer that might point to a RAM / system resource issue.
Another thing you can check is Cursor Settings → Network → Run Diagnostic and make sure everything is good there.
Cursor has no hourly or time usage limits
My computer itself doesn’t lag, it’s just Cursor AI who respond slowly (or doesn’t respond). FYI this doesn’t just happen to Cursor, one other AI tool also seems to degrade after long sessions, albeit less often than Cursor.
When it starts getting slow to respond, starting a new convo doesn’t help - it also doesn’t respond on the new convo.
I’ll try to check stuff when this happens again.
