My Cursor license is provided by my company, so I didn’t set it up myself. I use Cursor for client projects that can involve sensitive data, and I want to confirm how my data is handled. Could someone clarify:
On a company-managed (Business/Enterprise) account, are my code and prompts stored or used for model training?
How is Privacy Mode configured at the organization level?
How can I verify that Privacy Mode is turned on (e.g., where to check in Settings)?
Hi @Dahlia_Dinh Thanks for the post. I confirmed that Privacy Mode (Legacy) is enabled and enforced for the team associated with your account. This is the no-training, no-code-storage setting, so team members cannot disable it individually.
You can verify this in Cursor by opening Cursor Settings (Cmd+Shift+J on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+J on Windows), then going to General > Privacy. You should see a lock icon, Privacy Mode (Legacy), and a note that Data Sharing is controlled by your team admin.
Privacy Mode prevents Cursor and model providers from using your data for training. Our current data-handling details, including temporary encrypted caching and limited safety-related exceptions, are documented here: Cursor · Data Use & Privacy Overview
