I see this banner on my cursor dashboard, but it does not explain how it gets applied. does it get consumed only when I am running my pro plan? or do we get to use it for paying our subscription itself? how can I actually consume it before it expires?
Hey this is a usage credit grant. It automatically applies to your usage in Cursor like model requests agent and chat. There is no separate apply button and nothing needs to be done manually.
Here are a couple clarifications on your questions.
The credit covers the cost of usage. It absorbs your requests before they start counting against your plan or on-demand billing. While the credit is active sessions show as Free or $0 on-demand.
It does not go toward paying for the subscription itself. It only covers usage.
To spend the remaining $20 before it expires on July 16 2026 at 17:11 just use Cursor. Run the agent or chat and the cost will automatically deduct from the credit. The balance only moves when there is real usage so if you do not use Cursor the credit will stay untouched.
Let me know if anything is still unclear.
Thanks for that. I have a similar dialogue, and understand the credits but the Dismiss button does not work even after restarts and updates to the latest. The dialogue is stuck there above the user data entry field.
Hey @tedb, this is a known bug. The Dismiss button on the credits banner doesn’t always hide it, so it can stay stuck over the input field. This is on our side, not your setup. We’re already tracking the issue, but there’s no ETA for a fix yet.
Good news: it’s cosmetic only. The credit is applied to your usage automatically and gets deducted whether the banner is showing or not, so you can safely ignore the banner.
To help me match your case, can you share:
- your Cursor version from Help > About, plus your OS
- the exact banner text, for example “$100 in Cloud Agent Credits” or the Composer credit variant
If I get an update on the fix, I’ll reply in this thread.
Thanks for that. 3.13.10 (OS: Darwin arm64 25.5.0) I updated to today fixed it.
Hey @Sharon. The Credits banner shows generic text like “applied to Cursor usage”, but in practice credits are often scoped to a specific type of usage. For example, Cloud Agent credits only cover Cloud Agent usage, and Bugbot Credit only covers Bugbot PR reviews. Regular model usage in the IDE, in your case composer-2.5-fast and cursor-grok-4.5-high-fast, isn’t covered by those scoped credits, so it goes to On-Demand and your credit balance doesn’t change.
This is a known confusion caused by the same banner text being used for different credit types.
To confirm exactly what scope your $98 is tied to and why it doesn’t cover this usage, email [email protected] and they can check your specific account.
Hi Cursor Team,
I’m getting the “Too many free trial accounts used on this machine. Please upgrade to pro.” message whenever I use Cursor Chat.
I have already tried:
- Restarting Cursor
- Signing out and signing back in
- Reinstalling Cursor
- Using a different network
My Request ID: c8adb6bd-4627-460c-8992-1a29bd8d65e5
Could you please check if my device or account has been mistakenly flagged and remove any restriction if applicable?
Thank you.
Hey @Tanishk_Singh, this looks like a machine-level trial flag, not something specific to this thread (which is about credits), so let’s not lose it here.
The Too many free trial accounts used on this machine message shows up when Cursor detects that other free accounts have been used on the same machine, as an anti-abuse measure. If you believe this is a mistake, email [email protected] with your Request ID c8adb6bd-4627-460c-8992-1a29bd8d65e5 and they can look into your specific account and device and lift the restriction if it was flagged incorrectly.
Only that team can check the flag on your account, so email is the fastest path here.
okay i’ll email them , is there any other solution to my issue?
@Tanishk_Singh, honestly email is the only way to clear the flag. It’s a device and account level anti-abuse check, and only that team can review it and remove it if it was triggered by mistake. There isn’t any setting change or reinstall trick on your side that will remove it, and you’ve already tried the usual ones.
The one thing that can bypass the free trial restriction right away is upgrading to Pro, since the limit only applies to free trial usage on that machine. That’s what the message points to. But if you think the flag is a mistake, emailing for a review and including your Request ID c8adb6bd-4627-460c-8992-1a29bd8d65e5 is the right move.
