### Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

### Describe the request

Generate commit message for git commit is a very helpful feature. But I haven’t found how to set prompt for the AI (e.g. generate comment in Chinese, or let the comment follow some special schema). Does cursor support this now ?

### Operating System (if it applies)

Windows 10/11

Hey, right now the “Generate commit message” feature doesn’t support prompt customization and doesn’t use Rules for AI.

This is a common request. Here are similar threads:

- [How to change "generate commit message" language?](https://forum.cursor.com/t/how-to-change-generate-commit-message-language/39670)
- [Rules not being followed in Git commit message generation](https://forum.cursor.com/t/rules-not-being-followed-in-git-commit-message-generation/31093)

The team is working on adding this, but there’s no specific timeline yet. At the moment, the commit generator looks at your previous commit messages and tries to follow their format, but you can’t set the language or custom patterns.
