I have a claude api key and want to use the claude model with Cursor. I can’t seem to do this at all. I have tried adding in a custom model. But no matter what model name I key in, it doesn’t work. Whereas, if I click the existing “Opus 4.5”, I get an error that I need a paid Cursor plan. I am just trying to use my own claude api key. How do I do this
Hey, just to confirm, what plan are you on right now, Free or Pro?
Important: Using your own API keys (BYOK) is only available on the Pro plan. This feature isn’t available on the Free tier.
On Pro, with your own API key, you only pay Anthropic directly based on their pricing, and you won’t use Cursor limits.
