I have questions about paid content, who can tell me

Why do I also have to pay for “Pay this Month as You Go” after purchasing “Pro”? What is the difference between these two charges?

Because, my friend, the advertized “unlimited” plan is in fact not unlimited, but rate limited. And after you hit those limits, which nobody knows and the team won’t share “for safety reasons”, it automatically starts to take money from your “pay as you go” allocated budget.

I personally stay away from that, and I’ve moved back to the old pricing plan, so I don’t have first person experience with how things work. But users who ended up being charged report that it doesn’t even tell you that it started taking money from you. You can only notice that if you refresh the Usage tab in Cursor’s dashboard website after every request you made.

That’s why you have to be double sure that you actually want to allow this usage based pricing. There is a limit that you can set on usage based pricing in the Cursor settings, but again, some users noticed that Cursor charged them OVER the specified limit in the last few days.

There can be different opinions on this practice. One could argue that it’s because the team is too buried in big amount of work to handle everything, but those who wrote directly to support report that it’s a company practice and they don’t see anything bad in it.

Some users go as far as to call it a scam.
