Im trying to use this more akin to chat Gpt and just input questions or simple tasks for Cursor to help with but I’ve noticed that my ‘enter’ button is grayed out. I must be using it incorrectly but cannot figure out how or where to go to use Cursor as more of a chat bot. I know this is more for developers but I’ve built a CRM for work with Cursor so thought I could replace Chat/Claude.
Hey, it’s not a bug. The Send button stays grey while the input box is empty. As soon as you start typing, it becomes active.
A few steps to get started:
- Open a folder or project via File → Open Folder. You can create an empty folder if you just want to chat.
- Press
Cmd+Lon Mac orCtrl+Lon Windows/Linux to open the Chat panel on the right. - Type your request in the box at the bottom and press Enter.
By default, Agent mode is on, so it can read and edit files in your project. If you want something closer to ChatGPT, just Q&A with no code changes, switch to Ask mode in the dropdown above the input box.
