Cursor Grok 4.5 has scored better on benchmarks then Composer 2.5: Introducing Grok 4.5 · Cursor We are still fully supporting Composer 2.5 and we are excited to offer Cursor users a variety of model options so they can choose the ones that suit them best.
Cursor Grok 4.5 is a First Party so usage will draw from the “Auto + Composer Pool.” Note that we have recently renamed this pool to be called the First Party Usage Pool. So on your Ultra Plan you will have A LOT, like A LOT of usage possible on Cursor Grok 4.5.
It’s a fantastic model and I use it a ton, please let us know what you think of it! I’m really excited for you to get a feel for it and hope you share your thoughts here on the forum with us.
Thanks Kevin, historically I’ve been using composer 2.5 for quick trivial tasks and opus 4.8 for complex tasks. But I’m guessing at this point cursor grok 4.5 is a sensible replacement for composer 2.5 for my use cases yea?

I’ve been using Grok 4.5 to create plans to feed to Composer 2.5 for implementation and it’s definitely outperforming Sonnet 5 for my use cases. I wouldn’t consider it a straight replacement for Composer 2.5 yet, because if you can do basic tasks in Composer 2.5, it’s still a lot cheaper than Grok 4.5. Really enjoying having access to this new model!
Right but if you’re on the ultra plan, preferring grok 4.5 over composer 2.5 seems like a no brainer as neither will exceed the usage plan.
Agreed! I’m still scraping by on the Pro plan for now.
