I’ve now gotten 4 popups in the last hour. The first was suggesting I try a new model, I didn’t take note of the second, the third is “Now available in Beta - Cursor Security Agents”, and now the fourth is “Now available - Use /multitask”
I’m capable of checking release notes to see what’s new, and these intrusive notifications are a focus killer.
Is there a switch or json setting to disable them? I haven’t had any luck turning one up. If not, I’d like to request that one be added, please.
Last reply for now, because I see other threads in this forum haven’t gotten much traction.
My sincere suggestion is that these should be startup notifications, like release notes. I don’t mind getting a heads up when I’m starting my day, but it’s extremely disruptive to productivity to get these randomly throughout the day.
i think, it is fine to press “X” to remove them as they are only shown once when new features are dropped
I agree. Since starting my work day an hour and 10 minutes ago, I have been shown 6 of these popups. I have spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to disable them.
I do not need these distractions while I am trying to work. I would like the ability to prevent these from appearing or making themselves known while I am trying to concentrate. I do not want them to overlay my interface, flash annoyingly, make a sound, or do anything else to draws my attention unnecessarily.

We want to let users know when new (hopefully useful) features are available. At the same time, it seems like we might be going a bit overboard on the pace. The team has significantly increased the cooldown between popups.
With all due respect, i dont need a popup to ever tell me “why dont you upgrade to ultra for only 50% off!” mid way though my work.
Infact if i wanted or needed “ultra” i would be using it already, its exacly this kind of thing that turns users away from products or software, its exacly the very thing people strongly complained about when windows started pushing like this.
People do not want or need intrusive distractions, regardless of the reason, it should also be up to those users to decide what, if any, “notifications” like this we get.
Yea, respectfully, this is downright stupid, still an issue. Literally implemented advertisements, wouldn’t even call them announcements
