It would be nice to see the current version number beside the download button
We wouldn’t have to download each time for nothing.

I would like that too. But as an interim solution make sure your browser asks you where to save (or use another profile/browser that does) because the version number is part of the filename, so you can see it in the “where to save?” prompt then just click cancel without actually downloading.

I’m on a Mac so I don’t have that option before download
But I found an alternative, the Changelog button at the button give a gross version change

What if you use Chrome on Mac? Either way the changelog’s latest date is always far older than the download, and mentions just major versions, so I wouldn’t count on it (although lately they’ve started to comment there about minor versions, but it’s still hard to catch due to the general date featuring just major version).
