🚀 Just launched Todo2 on the Cursor Marketplace – an AI project manager that lives inside your code editor. No more context-switching to plan or research tasks – it’s all in Cursor now!

Hi everyone, I just launched Todo2 – an AI-powered project management extension for the Cursor AI editor. I built Todo2 after getting frustrated with leaving my IDE to plan tasks in ChatGPT/Perplexity. It lets you create todos by simply prompting, auto-researches latest best practices, and keeps everything inside Cursor, including the nice Kanban board. It’s free with 14-days trial on the Cursor Marketplace. Would love your feedback or questions! Thank you - https://todo2.pro

Here is the installation guide where I am showing the distribution via an VSCode extension: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahVkVa_JilE

And here is the showcase how am I using it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Olrdms7H3A

For those who are looking for a free alternative. I think 9$ per month is too much for such a service: https://github.com/cjo4m06/mcp-shrimp-task-manage

It’s built into cursor since 1.2

Too late my dude, but nice try.

Hi! In my opinion, agent todos are a linear breakdown of larger problems into smaller parts, an attempt to optimize context, and preparation for longer-running background agents. But it only does this within a single prompt or a few within the session, quickly loses track, and lacks an overview of the whole project.

What’s different is that Todo2 turns the chat into a structured workflow. Tasks are created and can be hierarchically dependent on each other. When a task moves to “in progress,” proper, up-to-date research is done on it, it gets developed, the solution is verified and submitted for review to check if it’s okay. If it is, then it gets documented, and future chat sessions are aware of it. Finally, there’s a refinement step to evaluate whether the other tasks still make sense or need to be adjusted/deleted/created. It also notifies the person when they need to do something (e.g. API keys, messaging someone).

I recommend trying it out. :slightly_smiling_face:

Do I need to do anything to activate it? Or does it only work in English? I made a request in chat, but nothing happened in Kanban.

Thanks for trying! Do you have Todo2 MCP activated? Here I recorded How to install - https://youtu.be/ahVkVa_JilE?si=2y2c_0DYixMPcAr3 hope it helps!

Perfect, now it works, when I restarted the Cursor it must have disabled the MCP, thanks

You need to accumulate customers, so you cannot charge monthly. You should charge based on the number of projects. Ordinary users only have 5 projects, and if you want to increase them, you will be charged. Super functions will be charged
I don’t have the idea of following your current mode because it’s definitely a waste of time. The main feature of cursor is that it has this function

Hi everyone, thank you for comments, I am still unsure about the pricing, you are right that $9 is too much.

I would like to kindly ask everyone who see this comment: if you find Todo2 cool, please Upvote us on ProductHunt here!

Thank you all for support. :+1::+1::+1:

Hi everyone! Yesterday, Todo2 ranked 9th out of 178 on Product Hunt, and I want to thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it, and I think it’s a huge achievement! Thank you!:partying_face::+1:

The built in todos offer only a short name of a todo and they’re not shared across chat windows.

I like the general idea, but @SupermanAdam007 I highly recommend to double check your landing page, especially the white background cards, which are either invisible or offer way to low contrast.

Is it possible to filter tasks by a tag? And is it possible to differentiate tasks based on the file they’re related to? And to manually edit the tasks, f.e. to add own comments to them?

Hi, how were you able to use white background? But I agree that the landing page needs some work.

For the features comments:

  • Is it possible to filter tasks by a tag? - nope, I was unsure what to do with the tags, AI is generating them freestyle now
  • Is it possible to differentiate tasks based on the file they’re related to? - That’s a cool idea, thanks! But it’s not showing it now in structured way, just in plain text in result comment after implementation.
  • And to manually edit the tasks, f.e. to add own comments to them? - YES you can add your own comments to the tasks and AI should know about them!

So in general I did not structure the tasks descriptions other than instructions to AI that it should have some specific parts.

Thank you for checking Todo2!

It looks this way by default in Firefox. All adblocks turned off to make sure. Here’s the experience:

The website should be better now regardless of white/dark mode system settings and chrome/firefox/safari combinations, dark mode enforced. Thank you for reporting it!

Hey nice project !!! Join 450+ vibe coders and showcase what you’re building here → https://www.buildrs.space/

Just signed up for the trial version to test it out. Will you be adding support for editing todos via the Todo2 Kanban view? Editing the “long_description” in the JSON file isn’t so fun

One issue I’ve found: if you have the Todo2 Kanban view open, and add a new todo via the chat, you have to close and re-open the Todo2 Kanban view to see the new ticket.

For context, I’m using Cursor in WSL

Hi, thank you for trying it!

I think the long_description is editable, but only in dummy “markdown as plain text” format in Todo2 Kanban, but still than json :slightly_smiling_face::

The issue about non-updating Todo2 Kanban when tasks change is weird, I tested the automatic updates on Windows/Mac/Linux (Ubuntu). Any change to share some file error related errors from Cursor developers console?

Thank you,
Adam

My bad, I completely missed that “Edit” button! That’s more than good enough for my needs!

I asked in chat to add another todo item, and these are the developer tools logs

Do you know why i have old webgui in shrimp manager? i see another in repo with many functions.

Hey, I released new version v0.0.9

This release is all about stability and fixing issues we gathered while doing customer support and there were quite a few.

• Automatic registration, restart, and monitoring of MCP without mcp.json.
• Safer workspace isolation (projects with the same workspace name used to see each other’s tasks :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:).
• Windows path spacing quirks fixed.

After the initial feature tornado, Todo2 needed to strengthen its foundations.
