### Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

### Describe the Bug

I am a paying customer. The February 15, 2026 report is still reproducible today, September 22, 2026, after many Cursor releases. That topic received only an automated template reply and was automatically closed on March 9. New replies are not allowed. Closing an open IME bug after 22 days of silence is not a fix.

On an empty Agent chat input, the first Hangul character never commits. The composer still treats the field as empty, so the send button switches to the voice microphone and the character disappears. Moving the caret with the arrow keys, or typing English or a space first, makes later Korean input work. This happens again every time the field is empty.

Original report: [Korean input fails in empty Agent chat panel on Ubuntu](https://forum.cursor.com/t/korean-input-fails-in-empty-agent-chat-panel-on-ubuntu/151911)

### Steps to Reproduce

1. Ubuntu 24.04, X11, GNOME, IBus Hangul.
2. Open the Agent chat.
3. Leave the input completely empty.
4. Switch to Korean input.
5. Type the first Hangul syllable.

### Expected Behavior

The first Hangul character commits into the chat box, the same as in the browser, the editor, and the terminal. The send button stays a send button. A reported bug stays open until it is fixed or a dated fix is posted. It is not auto-closed after 22 days of silence.

### Operating System

Linux

### Version Information

Cursor 3.21.16
Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, X11, GNOME
IBus Hangul 1.5.5
Linux 7.0.0-31-generic

### Additional Information

I pay for Cursor. Seven months and multiple releases later there is still no owner and no date. Do not auto-close this thread. Publish a fix date. If this misses the next release, review account credit for a paid product that still cannot accept Korean as the first character in the chat we pay to use.

### Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hi @chyou0816, thanks for the detailed report, and I’m sorry the February thread closed without a reply from us.

You’re right that this still happens on current versions. When the Agent chat input is empty, the first Hangul syllable from IBus doesn’t commit, so the input still reads as empty, and the send button switches to the microphone. This isn’t caused by anything in your setup. We’ve let the team know with your steps and version details, and this is an issue we’re tracking. I don’t have a date to share yet, but I’ll post here when there’s an update.
