I use Cursor in Auto mode for coding and usually out of 30 days of subscription, I reach the usage limit in 14 days, I have a question, if I select the right models in the section and do not select the same High and thinking models, will I be able not to reach the limit in 14 days? Like there won’t be a cursor, they’ll switch to heavy models based on a simple request.

Yep, manually choosing models will definitely help you control quota usage. Auto mode has been paid since November 2024, and it can pick expensive models even for simple requests.
For expensive or complex tasks:
- GPT-5.2 XHigh or GPT-5.1 High for main work
- GPT-5.1 Codex Max XHigh is a good price to quality option
For simple tasks (repo search, small edits):
- GPT-5 Mini is a bit smarter
- Grok Code Fast is free and a bit faster
Main point: don’t use top tier models for every task. The usage difference can be several times higher.
