Markdown "Preview" renders code-ticked link names incorrectly

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

The markdown “Preview” renders code-ticked link names incorrectly.

[`myTitle`](https://github.com/)

It shows the full raw markdown syntax is rendered as a code-segment.

Steps to Reproduce

Place this in a markdown file

[`myTitle`](https://github.com/)

Then click “Preview” button in Cursor IDE.
You can see it not rendered correctly, showing the full raw markdown not the title only.

Expected Behavior

It should only show the title “myTitle”, as seen in other markdown renderers like Github (even this forum’s preview tool does it correctly).

Operating System

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Zack_Kendall, I can reproduce it, and it isn’t anything on your end.

For a correct render, use the standard Markdown preview instead: run Markdown: Open Preview from the command palette (or Cmd+Shift+V). And if you’re editing a file that has these links, stay in the Markdown (source) tab - editing in Preview can rewrite the link into that code-wrapped form on save.

This isn’t intended behavior; we’ve let the team know and it’s an issue we’re tracking. I’ll follow up here once there’s an update.
