Describe the Bug

MCP apps lose focus as soon as you start typing inside them, the focus is transferred to the message box. This affects at least 2 independent MCP apps, including Datadog and Slack. See attached videos for examples.

To avoid this issue in datadog we replaced our text box with a form, but we’d like to bring back the native text element after this is fixed.

Install the slack plugin and ask the agent to help you draft a message

Hi @Colin thanks for the update. Unfortunately after upgrading, MCP apps stopped rendering completely (for Slack, Datadog, and just in case it’s specific to apps that required login, tldraw . In each case only the text fallback appears instead of the HTML window.

MCP Apps stopped rendering in 3.10.20 (worked in 3.9.16)

Following up after digging into this further - it’s a known issue on our side, and it’s the same one we’re now tracking internally. The interactive MCP App widgets aren’t mounting for setups like yours right now: the tool itself still runs (that’s why you get the text result), but the inline widget doesn’t render. This isn’t your server or config, and it isn’t something you can toggle on your end. Two things that’d help us pin it down: Does the widget fail on every tool call, or does it occas…

It’s possible that this may have been fixed sooner than this version but I am seeing MCP apps appearing again after upgrading to Cursor 3.12.17 on MacOS.

I think keeping this thread open is still relevant since the other thread is about MCP apps not appearing at all, whereas this thread is about user text inputs not working even if the MCP app does appear. Let me know if I misunderstood, or if grouping the issues differently is helpful to the team.

Correct, I’m seeing MCP apps after upgrading to 3.12.17 , but the text inputs are not usable.

Thanks @Cameron_Yick. Using the Slack MCP widget to draft a message, I can’t reproduce this.

• @Tom_Coustols Would love a second data point! Do you still experience this?
• I tried reproducing on 3.12.30 (the last patch of 3.12) and on 3.13, and wasn’t able to in either case. Just in case, could you make sure you’re upgraded to the latest version and let me know if the issue persists?

After upgrading to the latest 3.13.25released on Jul 28, , I’m seeing the issue is fixed for me in both the Slack and Datadog MCP servers, I’m able to type in both.
