There are several reports of people having issues with the Tool limit we currently have:

- [About limitation of the number of MCP tools](https://forum.cursor.com/t/about-limitation-of-the-number-of-mcp-tools/107844)

- [Request: Increase MCP Tools Limit for Enhanced Development Workflow](https://forum.cursor.com/t/request-increase-mcp-tools-limit-for-enhanced-development-workflow/108637)
- [Increase the 25 tool calls limit](https://forum.cursor.com/t/increase-the-25-tool-calls-limit/72553)
- and several other similar topics

I understand the limitations/concerns about degradation of quality, but it would be nice to be able to selectively toggle group of tools available in a prompt/chat/project. For instance, the [official GitHub mcp](https://github.com/github/github-mcp-server) alone already surpasses the current limit:

 ![Screenshot From 2025-08-04 12-39-15](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/cursor1/original/3X/6/1/61d25e447f0332207d496ba62bde61a06c911db0.png)

I could toggle one by one, which is time consuming and especially annoying when switching contexts.

It would be amazing if we could (through Cursor’s UI) create a group of tools with an arbitrary name, e.g., “GitHub repo read-only tools”, add the related tools to this group, and toggle all of them in a single click (for any chat), or even be able to set a project-wide default, so new chats pick that up.

Please, consider the usability improvement this would have in the long term, as well how well it addresses the current concerns/limitations.

Cheers from an avid user.
